The TradeEdgeNational Highway Traffic Safety Administration issued multiple recalls last week, including nearly 154,000 for rearview camera issues.
More than 150,000 Nissan cars, including some Altima and Sentra models, were recalled for an issue with the camera harness. Kia also issued a recall for more than 18,000 Stinger vehicles from model years 2018-2021 for a problem with the fuel control valve.
Car owners can check USA TODAY’s automotive recall database or search NHTSA’s database for new recalls. The NHTSA website also allows you to search for recalls based on your vehicle identification number or VIN.
Here are the vehicle recalls published by the NHTSA from Sept. 10-Sept. 18.
Nissan recalls: Altima, Sentra
Nissan is recalling 153,376 of its specific 2019-2021 Altima and 2022-2021 Sentra vehicles because of damage to the camera harness, causing the rearview camera display image loss. According to a NHTSA report this can reduce the driver's rear view, increasing the crash risk.
If a fix is necessary, dealers can replace the rearview camera and harness free of charge. If no damage is found, the dealer will apply protective tape and reroute the rearview camera harness. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed on Oct. 19, 2023

Kia recalls: Stinger
Kia recalled 18,224 of certain 2018-2021 Stinger vehicles because the fuel control valve plunger may get stuck inside the fuel pump. According to a NHTSA report, this will cause the loss of drive power and can increase the risk of a crash.
If necessary, dealers will update and inspect the engine control unit software and replace the fuel pump as necessary. This will be free of charge. Notification letters to owner are expected to be mailed on Nov. 10, 2023.

Mercedes-Benz recalls: GLC300
Mercedes-Benz recalls 11,853 of its certain 2023 GLC300 vehicles because the front tow eye may not be correctly attached to the cross member and can detach while drivers are towing something, potentially causing a crash, says a NHTSA report.
If there is a problem, dealers will replace the front cross member at no cost. Letters should be mailed to impacted vehicle owners by Nov. 10, 2023.

Ford Recalls
Ford is recalling 5,795 of its certain 2024-2025 Ford E-350, F-650 SD, and F-750 SD because the park pawl may not engage the park gear due to a casting defect in the transmission. According to a NHTSA report, it may cause the vehicle to roll away, increasing the risk of a crash.
If there needs to be a fix, dealers will fix or replace the transmission or the valve body and extension housing for free. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed on Oct. 30, 2023.

Chrysler recalls
Chrysler has recalled 4,129 of its certain 2023-2024 Alfa Romeo Tonale and 2023-2024 Dodge Hornet plug-in hybrid electric vehicles because the battery positive cable or high voltage connector may not be tightened. A NHTSA report says this can cause the electrical connection to overheat and may start a fire in the car.
Chrysler owners are advised to park outside and away from structures until the recall repair is complete. If a dealer deems a fix is necessary, then said dealer will inspect and tighten cable connections, free of charge. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed before Oct. 27, 2023.

Ford Recalls
Ford is recalling 2,954 certain 2020-2022 Lincoln Aviator and Ford Explorer vehicles because of a manufacturing defect in the high-voltage cell. According to a NHTSA report, this may cause battery failure, which can increase the risk of a fire and loss of drive power.
If necessary, dealers will perform a Battery Energy Control Module (BECM) diagnostic test and replace the high-voltage battery pack free of charge. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed on Oct. 2, 2023.

BMW recalls:
BMW recalls 2,352 of its certain 2023 BMW XM, 2024 BMW X5 sDrive40i, X5 xDrive40i, X5 M60i, X5 M, X5 xDrive50e, X6 xDrive40i, X6 M60i, X6 M, X7 xDrive40i, X7 M60i, and Alpina XB7 vehicles because the front passenger knee airbag may not deploy when needed. According to a NHTSA report, this will result in a risk of injury in a crash.
If there is a problem with the airbag, dealers will replace the front passenger knee airbag for free. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed on Oct. 30, 2023.
