Josh Hall is suffering a heartbreaking loss.
The 43-year-old honored his longtime friend Gonzalo Galvez, who died of cancer on Aug. 6. In a heartfelt Instagram tribute, Josh called his pal “the best human I’ve ever known.”
“This man was not famous, he was not rich or someone publicly known, but what he was, was a once in a lifetime human,” Josh wrote alongside photos of the pair over the years. “He was an absolute living legend who left everyone that came into contact with him inspired.”
The friends met as deputies working for the L.A. County Sheriff’s Department, with Josh noting, “He introduced me to a group of guys that I would end up forming lifelong bonds with. Collectively we all experienced more life and experiences in 23 years that most couldn’t imagine in a lifetime.”
Josh shared that the group of friends took shifts sitting at Gonzalo’s bedside in recent weeks as his health declined.
“The boys all came together from all over to be there for your final breaths. We aren’t going anywhere,” he added. “Raquel, the kids and your family will have us to pick up the pieces til we are all gone.”
The tribute featured a series of throwback photos of Josh and Gonzalo in the field, eating out together, smoking cigars and more.
The loss of his close friend comes amid a difficult time for Josh, who recently split from ex Christina Hall.
Josh and Christina—who shares kids Taylor El Moussa, 13, and Brayden El Moussa, 8, with ex-husband Tarek El Moussa, and son Hudson Anstead, 4, with ex Ant Anstead—both filed for divorce July 16 after more than two years of marriage.
On Aug. 2, Josh asked for privacy amid the ongoing breakup.
“I prefer privacy, especially during something as life changing as a divorce I did not ask for,” Josh wrote in an Instagram post. “We are real humans, this is our life and I am not here to entertain people I don’t know with my private matters.”
